Layar

Layar is an application that allows you to (practically) time-travel into the future to use your own smartphone as an authentic augmented reality tool.

To use the application, you just need to activate the camera on your Android device, point it in the direction of the object or element you want to interact with, and wait for the application to work its magic. You can do anything from view more information about a monument that you're looking at, to buy objects from a store just by having them on your screen.

Similarly, you can easily expand the information that you read in newspapers and magazines. All you need to do is focus your camera on the material that you'd like to explore, and voilà. In a matter of seconds - and as long as you're connected to the Internet - you'll have access, no problem.

Layar is a very useful augmented reality tool that has the potential to add a lot of depth to your day-to-day life. It's one of those apps that, once you've tried it, is hard to give up.
